Through the fountain of knowledge that is Wikipedia I found out that:
'PHP is a scripting language originally designed for producing dynamic web pages. It has evolved to include a command line interface capability and can be used in standalone graphical applications.'
'PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. It generally runs on a web server, taking PHP code as its input and creating web pages as output. It can be deployed on most web servers and on almost every operating system and platform free of charge. PHP is installed on more than 20 million websites and 1 million web servers.'
I think that getting a grip on PHP would be very helpful but i am not sure how deep i would want to go into it. I am guessing that it isn't something that you can quickly get your head around with limited experience of website construction.
I had a quick look for some PHP tutorials and found some on:
http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/DEfaULT.asP
I think I am going to have a look through some tutorials and see how accessible PHP is and whether it is something i am going to incorporate into my website.

1st Tutorial
New Year, New Blog, New Project
For this new brief we have been asked to 'Research, explore and document your relationship with communication technology'. This is a self directed brief so we can choose the area we want to explore more.
When i started thinking I knew that i wanted to create some sort of online presence or a 'Portfolio Website'. I also wanted to incorporate a blog of some sort, such as the one i have running at the moment with blogger.
I think I have a love hate relationship with blogs. I really like the idea of them and i like looking at other peoples but sometimes when it comes to updating mine i have a sudden lack of motivation. I think this is something i really want to change through this project and start using the blog for more personal stuff rather than purely work and project related.
